As part of our Summer 2017 MUSE Collection, this range was inspired by artist Louise Nevelson.
Louise Nevelson produced monumental sculptures that for their time defied public opinion by “breaking the taboo that only men’s artwork could be large scale.” She appeared to find confidence in this challenge and her bold, bohemian lifestyle and strength of character were a wonderful inspiration for us to never feel the need to conform to the everyday.
“I’m not a feminist. I’m an artist who happens to be a woman.”
- Louise Nevelson
The Broderie Anglaise Dress illustrated form and function by showcasing a textural pattern of basic shapes and cut out panels against a removable cotton jersey slip. The bound sleeves and round neckline allowed the dress to sit neatly, giving it a structured silhouette front and back.
You will see the use of bold and layered patterns throughout our Summer 2017 collection. The Nevelson Tank, Nevelson Tee or Nevelson Dress were key styles inspired by Nevelson’s creations.
Our jewellery continued to evolve this season, with pieces like the lightweight Nevelson Wooden Pendant, featuring a faceted wooden focal piece. Adding a distinct point of interest to any outfit, the abstract shape reflected the light and was topped with metal cylinders presented on an adjustable cord.
